90's ANIME eyes TO GIVE YOU INSIPRATION

How To Draw Anime Eyes

There are many styles of Anime Eyes, picking your aesthetic is the first step!

Seeing different styles of eyes can inspire and help you realize what the character is feeling and also whether it was giving you either a soft or a sharp look. Eye styles can also help you express whether the character you’re making looks weak, intimidating or even strong. Maybe these 90’s anime eyes can give you inspiration and help you draw on what eye style you’re drawing in the future.

Sultry Eyes

Soft And Dull Anime Eyes

Unlike the first eye style, this eye style fully gives a sharp look of the character. The sharp ends on the line art made the characters in the photos look like a strong looking character. The artist also used darker colors for the eyes compared to the first one which made it less intimidating, this eye style is also perfect for a bored look and a sharp look. If you notice, the eyebrows can also change the eye expression of the characters, if the eyebrows are more on the arched side, it makes the character look intimidating. While, if the eyebrows are more of a straight line, the character will look a bit bored. This kind of small change amazes me, because it affects the whole mood or expression of the character. I suggest that if you want to have this kind of eye style and you want to focus on the sharp expression, I recommend that you emphasize the white line part or the shiny line that’s connected to the pupil in the eyes of the character.

Lashes For Days

Pretty Doll Anime Eyes

This eye style is a full soft looking style and what made it look more soft is how the eyelashes were emphasized. But, if you noticed that black lineart on the eyes isn’t used as well, this is because in order to achieve a soft eye style look you have to use lighter colors like using brown in different shade. The color palette that the artist also chose made an impact to how soft looking this style is, it made the eyes of the characters look warm and curious at the same time. If you compare it to the eye styles I discussed earlier, this eye style has larger eyes and pupils. According to the TV Tropes, the larger the eyes are, the more that it’ll emphasize the youthfulness and cuteness of the character. The artist also added sparkles in the eyes which made the eye style look much more expressive. If you want to achieve this eye style, I suggest that you use lighter colors and draw larger eyes and pupils. Also, don’t be afraid to add highlights like how the artist also added sparkles in their work.

Shonen Eyes

Striking but Youthful

This is a soft yet sharp looking eye style, as you observe the coldness of the eyes of the genshin impact characters can be seen and I think that the artist really did a good job in expressing the sharp look even in different angles. What made the eyes in this style look more sharp is the size of the pupil and the eye color, unlike the usual color of the game characters in the picture, the artist made their eyes much lighter which showed a cold expression in them even if their whole face aren’t shown. If you want this kind of art style, I suggest that you should use lighter colors to emphasize the coldness of the eyes and avoid using darker colors. If you look closely, the artist isn’t really using black for the lineart of the eyes, it’s more of a dark brown which also produces a soft look in the eyes.
